Madame Mary is a respected and well-known figure in the Mathare slum, serving as the cornerstone of the school. Trusted by the community and acknowledged by local leaders as well as educational institutions, she began her journey over a decade ago by teaching children on the streets of Mathare Kosovo. Formerly a social worker at a children’s home in Mathare, it was during this time that she met Godfrey and Daniel. She holds the distinction of being the first woman from the Mathare Hospital Ward to become a school director—a remarkable achievement in a context traditionally dominated by men.
