We are commited to give  underserved children of Mathare a chance to have a better future through access to quality education. It is also an opportunity to reduce poverty in this unprivileged community in the long run.

Three programs are in place to achieve the mission of our organization:

- Our school Roots Institute Centre provides free education (pre-school and primary) from 3 to 14 years old, nutritious meals twice a day and a safe environment within Mathare Kosovo Community. 

In 2025, our school enrolls 450 pupils. All the children we support live in Mathare with their relatives (parents, single mothers, guardians, siblings) in a single iron sheet room of approximately 10 square meters, lacking sanitation, water, and electricity. They often go to bed hungry and lack both books and a quiet space to study. The beneficiaries of this program are children who cannot afford to attend government schools or community schools in the area.

- Couple of years ago, we have initiated a high school sponsorship program.

We provide financial scholarships to the top-performing students from our primary school enabling them to access secondary education. Our sponsorship covers school fees, all necessary material, and mentoring. Without this assistance, these students, unable to afford school fees and additional expenses, would otherwise be at risk of engaging in harmful activities on the streets, including gang recruitment and trafficking or early marriage for the girls.

-  Finally, we implement training programs to equip children and youth with life skills and knowledge for a happy, healthy lifestyle. For instance, our educational initiatives focus on empowering girls from community schools by raising awareness about sexual reproductive health, self-preservation, and menstrual management. Last term, we had session on stress and time management for our kids.
